Are you tired of feeling powerless against your food cravings?
Does your diet often get derailed by those irresistible temptations?
Imagine a life where you are in full control, where cravings no longer dictate your food choices, and where achieving your health goals is a breeze.
A practical, step-by-step online course to help you understand what triggers your food cravings, interrupt the patterns behind them and respond differently to a craving when it occurs. A toolkit to help you stop starting over.
You see the chocolate. You smell something delicious as you walk past the bakery. You've had a stressful conversation and suddenly want something to eat. You're tired at the end of the day and find yourself reaching for a pick-me-up. Or you're sitting in front of the television and, almost without thinking, you're reaching for something to snack on. Sometimes you've eaten it before you've really thought about whether you wanted it!
Other times you feel the craving and fight it. I shouldn't. I can't. I need more willpower. And the more you fight with yourself, the stronger the craving gets.
What if controlling your cravings isn't about willpower? What if you could become more aware of how those urges work, what happens with your thinking and how the patterns play out and learn practical ways to do deal with cravings differently.
That's what Control Your Cravings is designed to help you explore.
Rather than giving you one trick and expecting it to work for every craving for every person, this course takes you through cravings from four different angles, so that you can adopt what works for you in different situations and at different moments in time..

Begin by becoming clearer about what's actually happening when a craving hits. Explore how cravings work, your food triggers and the difference between hunger and cravings.
Because when you understand what's driving your craving, you have more information to work with.

In this section, you'll explore craving habit loops. You'll begin noticing your patterns on autopilot and where you may be able to interrupt them, how to change your environment and build self-compassion..
So there's more space between the trigger and what you do next.

You'll be introduced to a range of tools and approaches that you can experiment with when a craving occurs. The aim of this section isn't to give you another rule to follow, it's to give you options.
So that when a craving occurs, you aren't relying on willpower.

Rather than only thinking about dealing with cravings once they've already started, you'll become more aware of circumstances surrounding them. This section looks upstream at lifestyle factors driving cravings.
So you can build a life that supports the choices you want to make.
Imagine waking up on Monday morning and, for the first time, feeling confident about the week ahead with no voice saying, "This time I'm going to be good".
You move through the day feeling at ease around food with your attention on other things that matter to you.
You know your triggers, choose to interrupt your patterns and recognise the stories you're telling yourself. You know precisely what practical tool you will use to manage a craving if it hits.
You make choices that make you feel more in control around food.

I know what it's like to think the answer is more willpower.
For much of my life, I was on and off diets. I'd start with good intentions, struggle with hunger and cravings, eventually give in and then decide I wasn't very good at dieting.
When I was teaching teenagers, dieting felt particularly hard work. By the end of the school day I was tired and looking for a pick-me-up. One of my familiar patterns was to decide I needed a coffee to keep going, so I'd go to the kettle where I'd see a delicious cake. Now I wanted the cake too!
For a long time, the part I noticed was simply: I craved the cake and ate it. But learning NLP taught me to become curious about what was happening, including what I was telling myself.
“I'm tired.”
“That'll make me feel better.”
I learned to break down my strategy, so that I could interrupt it.
That creates choice!
That understanding became part of a bigger exploration of the way our thoughts, language, habits and environment can influence our relationship with food. And those learnings became The Mindset Diet.
